ADA Partners with National and International Dental Groups to Create More Impactful Annual Meetings

June 1, 2017
In an effort to create more meaningful meetings for their attendees, guests and exhibitors, several national and international dental organizations will be joining forces to combine three major dental conventions in 2019 and two in 2020.   The American Dental Association (ADA), FDI World Dental Federation (FDI), California Dental Association (CDA) and San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS) will be partnering up to host a joint 2019 meeting in San Francisco. In addition, the ADA and Florida Dental Association (FDA) will be consolidating their 2020 meetings in Orlando while the ADA explores additional similar arrangements future events. “Because of the willingness to partner, a number of dental trade shows will be combined,” explained Dr. Gary Roberts, president of the ADA, which is the nation’s largest dental association representing more than 161,000 dental professionals. He added, “This approach makes great sense because it saves everyone time and money. Rather than wonder which meeting to attend or exhibit at, the choice is now easy!”  The ADA has a long-standing policy that encourages state and local dental societies to work with the ADA as its meeting rotates around the country. Working in collaboration with the Georgia and Hawaii Dental Associations, respectively, the ADA is gearing up for its 2017 meeting in Atlanta, set for Oct. 19-23 at the Georgia World Congress Center, and its 2018 event, scheduled for Oct. 18-22 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. Looking two years out, the ADA will collaborate with the FDI, CDA and the SFDS to host the FDI World Dental Congress in conjunction with ADA 2019 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center Sept. 5-9. “FDI is excited to combine organizational expertise to produce an engaging scientific program, as well as host what should be one of the largest exhibitions ever seen at FDI’s World Dental Congress,” said Dr. Patrick Hescot, current FDI president. All parties are expecting a large turnout at this joint meeting during which ADA’s 160th Anniversary and Dr. Kathy Kell’s term as FDI president will also be celebrated. “We cannot thank CDA and SFDS enough for our history together and look forward to 2019, 2023 and beyond working collaboratively to create unique and engaging attendee experiences,” said Jim Goodman, ADA vice president of conferences and continuing education. By combining local, state, national and international dental organizations, along with numerous affiliated dental groups, the ADA expects to a create an annual meeting incomparable to years past. “CDA is once again proud to welcome the ADA Annual Meeting to San Francisco as part of our ongoing partnership spanning many years,” said CDA President Dr. Clelan Ehrler. He added, “We are excited and look forward to the addition of the FDI World Dental Federation.” Collaborations will continue in 2020 as the ADA and FDA plan to host a joint meeting Oct. 15-20 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. “The Florida Dental Association is thrilled to partner with the American Dental Association to host ADA 2020 in Orlando,” said Dr. Bill D’Aiuto, president of the FDA and practicing dentist in Orlando. He continued, “This will be a great opportunity to shine a light on our state and we look forward to working together to make this an impactful event.”
