November 18, 2013

The Consumer Electronics Association has tapped Yahoo CEO, President and Director Marissa Mayer and Cisco CEO and Chairman John Chambers as part of the International CES’ Tech Titans keynote series.

The show, scheduled Jan. 7-10 at different sites in Las Vegas, has several high-level keynotes on tap for the series.

“As a defining innovator making waves in the online and mobile space and a fresh breath for the industry, Marissa Mayer is a perfect addition to our Tech Titans keynote series,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA.

He added, “We’re thrilled to welcome her to the CES stage to share her strategic vision for the evolving tech landscape.”

Mayer was named Yahoo CEO in July 2012. Prior to Yahoo, she was vice president of local, maps and location services at Google where she oversaw product management, engineering, design and strategy for the company’s suite of local and geographical products, including Google Maps, Google Earth, Zagat, Street View and local search for desktop and mobile.

During her 13 years at Google, Mayer held numerous positions, including engineer, designer, product manager and executive, and launched more than 100 well-known features and products.

She is listed as an inventor on several patents in artificial intelligence and interface design.

Chambers will be sharing sharing his company’s vision for the ‘Internet of Everything,’ which is the networked connection of people, processes, data and things.

The Internet of Everything is changing everything, creating greater opportunities for organizations, individuals, communities and countries than we saw with the first wave of the Internet,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “John Chambers is an industry visionary, and we are excited to welcome him back to the CES stage to share Cisco’s strategy for innovation to drive this market transition and create value as ‘everything’ comes online.”

Chambers has helped grow the company from $70 million when he joined Cisco in January 1991 to $1.2 billion when he assumed the role of CEO to record revenues of $48.6 billion in 2013.

In 2006, Chambers was named Chairman of the Board, in addition to his CEO role.

Chambers has received numerous awards for his leadership during his past 18 years at the helm of Cisco, including the 2012 Bower Award for Business Leadership from the Franklin Institute, Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People,” one of Barron’s’ “World’s Best CEOs,” the “Best Boss in America” by 20/20, one of BusinessWeek’s “Top 25 Executives Worldwide,” “CEO of the Year” by Chief Executive Magazine, the Business Council’s “Award for Corporate Leadership,” and “Best Investor Relations by a CEO” from Investor Relations Magazine three times.

In addition to Chamber’s keynote address, Cisco will also host the Internet of Everything (IoE) TechZone in Central Hall, where attendees can experience IoE in action and learn about the unprecedented opportunities it creates.

The 2014 CES will feature more than 3,200 exhibitors unveiling the latest consumer technology products and services across 15 product categories.
