Professional Convention Management Association Releases 2016 Slate of Board Officers and Directors

The Professional Convention Management Association Nominating Committee, chaired by Johnnie White, 2014 past Chair of the Board, met Aug. 20 in Chicago and reviewed, in detail, a number of nominee applications for the 2016 open board officers and directions positions.

 After careful due diligence and deliberation, the committee offers the following slate of candidates for leadership positions on the 2016 PCMA Board of Directors.

According to the PCMA Bylaws, this official announcement of the proposed slate is to be sent to the membership by Oct. 1.

Trade Show Industry Snags Highest Quarterly Growth in Eight Years

After a big increase in the first quarter of this year, the performance of the business-to-business trade show industry, as measured by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Total Index, remained relatively strong during the second quarter of 2015, posting a year-on-year gain of 3.8 percent.

This growth is the second highest rate since the second quarter of 2007 and also marked the 20th consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth.

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events completed its Krakoff Leadership Institute and Krakoff Advanced Leadership Institute, held Aug. 15-18, at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Fla.

Each two-day program provided a highly interactive curriculum that develops participants' leadership skills through group participation. 

In addition, IAEE selected a "Legend of the Industry" whose contributions, innovation and leadership have been truly unique and remarkable.

IAEE and Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs Sign Reciprocity Agreement

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events has entered into a reciprocity agreement with the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

The agreement further demonstrates IAEE's and RUEF's commitment to the international exhibitions and events industry, and it provides additional global opportunities for IAEE and RUEF members to connect to develop new exhibitions and face-to-face events.

Naylor Acquires Association Management Company WJ Weiser and Associates

Naylor Association Solutions, which provides integrated communications, event management, online learning, career services, association management software (AMS) and advertising, exhibit and sponsorship sales for the North American association marketplace, has acquired Schaumberg, Ill.-based WJ Weiser and Associates, a provider of association management solutions. 

IAEE Teams Up with MACEOS to Support Exhibitions and Events in Malaysia

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events and the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers have entered into an agreement to extend their offerings to members of both organizations in the interest of advancing the exhibitions and events industry in their respective regions.

"The collaboration between MACEOS and the Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MYCEB) shows a strong commitment to the development of exhibitions and events in Southeast Asia," said IAEE President David DuBois.

National Association of Chain Drug Stores Total Store Expo’s Showfloor Sells Out in Denver

With one month until the 2015 NACDS Total Store Expo kicks off in Denver, Colo., the National Association of Chain Drug Stores has sold out its exhibit floor at the Colorado Convention Center.  The show will take place Aug. 22-25.
