IAEE Chooses PMMI for 2018 International Excellence Award

May 18, 2018

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has chosen The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI) as this year’s recipient of the 2018 IAEE International Excellence Award.

The award recognizes an individual or organization that has made exceptional strides in creating, launching and managing an event in the exhibitions and events industry on an international scale.

PMMI was honored at the IMEX Gala Dinner & Award, which took place at IMEX Frankfurt, held May 15-17 at Messe Frankfurt Germany. Krista DeBrosse, PMMI’s international trade show coordinator, received the award on the association’s behalf.

PMMI represents more than 800 North American manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, components and materials as well as providers of related equipment and services to the packaging and processing industry.

“PMMI has been a notable contributor to the global exhibitions and events industry and this honor is very well-deserved,” said David DuBois, IAEE president and CEO. “I am pleased to present PMMI with the IAEE International Excellence Award and look forward to seeing its future successes.”

PMMI produces EXPO PACK Guadalajara, an event that has matured from a regional show in Western Mexico to an international event that welcomed nearly 16,000 attendees in 2017 and broke records for attendance, exhibitors and exhibit space compared to its 2015 edition, according to IAEE officials.

International attendees from Guatemala, Cuba, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Honduras, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru visited 757 booths spanning 140,000 net square feet of exhibit space, while international pavilions at the show included Brazil, Canada, China, France, Italy, Spain and the U.S.

“Last year’s event confirmed our belief that like EXPO PACK México in the even years, EXPO PACK Guadalajara was primed to take the mantle of the leading packaging and processing event in Latin America in the odd-numbered years,” said Jim Pittas, CEO of PMMI.

He added, “It exceeded our expectations in attendance, exhibitors and total event floor space.”

IAEE’s presence at IMEX Frankfurt also included in-booth education sessions and the Faculty Engagement Program, a special opportunity for academic leaders to share best practices and offer encouragement in an open forum, presented through a partnership with IMEX along with hosting student booth appointments.

Off the showfloor, IAEE presented future trends in the global exhibitions and events industry.

IAEE is now accepting nominations for its individual awards program, which recognizes exceptional professionals in the exhibitions and events industry. For more information, go HERE.
