Brazil's HOSPITILAR Show Attracts 90,000 Attendees, 1,250 Exhibitors

From May 24-27 in Sao Paulo, 90,000 attendees and 1,250 exhibitors representing companies from 34 countries 34 countries flocked to the HOSPITALAR 2011 - International Fair of Products, Equipment, Services and Technology for Hospitals, Laboratories, Pharmacies, Health Clinics and Medical Offices.

The attendees were mainly from directors and administrators of hospitals, nurses, doctors, distributors, manufacturers and international buyers.

The showfloor stretched 82,000 square meters at the Expo Center Norte, with a 10-percent increase in the area occupied by foreign companies, totaling 525 companies.

The foreign companies were attracted to the show because of the good economic results that Brazil is experiencing, with a strong expansion also of hospitals and establishments that provide services, a sector with a turnover of 8 percent of the Brazilian GDP in 2010, according to HOSPITILAR show officials.

There was a strong Latin American presence, with suppliers coming from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

But even more impressive, according to show organizers, was the participation from countries such as Angola, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Indonesia, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States.

“HOSPITALAR promotes and fosters business and networking between the supplying industry and hospital and clinic directors, and the health care professionals,” said Waleska Santos, founder and president of HOSPITALAR.

Santos added, “It is the big yearly meeting point of the hospital sector in the Americas."

Besides the strong international exhibitor presence, there also has been for several years, including this year, 20-percent growth in international visitors.

In addition, HOSPITALAR is recognized as the most important forum for healthcare in Latin America, congregating Brazilian and foreign leaders to discuss new concepts in healthcare management, according to show officials.

The show brings together more than 60 events, including congresses, seminars, workshops and sectorial meetings, focusing on management and optimization of financial and human resources of the healthcare establishments.
