Destination Marketing Association International Accredits 19 DMOs
Nineteen destination marketing organizations (DMOs) have recently been accredited under Destination Marketing Association International's (DMAI) Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP).
"Congratulations to these nineteen destinations for receiving their DMAP accreditation," commented Shelly Green, Chair of DMAP and president and CEO of the Durham (N.C.) CVB.
She added, "The DMAP process is a comprehensive review of a DMO's business procedures and accountability. These DMOs have shown their dedication to continually providing customers with superior service in accordance with international standards and benchmarks. Their commitment to accreditation clearly demonstrates the type of leadership they possess in their community and for their stakeholders."
Since January, 2007, 172 DMOs have earned their accreditation. To become accredited, a DMO must successfully comply with 58 mandatory and 30 voluntary standards in areas that include governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research.
"Accreditation is a recognized mark of quality for DMOs of any budget or staff size. At DMAI, we are committed to advancing the success of our industry and benchmarking best practice, not just in America, but around the globe," said Michael Gehrisch, President and CEO of DMAI. "We currently have accredited DMOs throughout the United States as well as Europe, Australia, Korea, Canada and Mexico."
The following organizations have been approved for accreditation and were recognized by DMAI during its Annual Convention in Orlando. An additional 25 destinations renewed their accreditation status.
