Event Tech Awards to Honor Innovation in Year of Adaptation
The Herculean efforts of the events industry to adapt during the pandemic will be rewarded at the Event Technology Awards. Organized by Event Tech Live, nominations for the ninth annual awards launched on April 1 and run through July 31.
Fittingly, given the rapid rise of virtual events in the past year, five new categories have been added:
- Best Hybrid Event Platform
- Best Live Streaming and Video Production
- Best Digital Event Production Company
- Best Visual Event Platform
- Event Tech’s Rising Star
The additions mean 35 awards will be handed out during Event Tech Live Week, set for Nov. 1-5.
“Tech has played such a big part in keeping people connected and productive, [so] being recognized by the Event Technology Awards is more important than ever,” said Kashif Din, managing director at One World Rental, headline sponsor for the event.
Halfway through the nomination period, the first Event Tech Live USA & Canada will launch online June 8-9. Themes will include new technology solutions for current challenges and the post-pandemic period, spotlighting how the pandemic ushered in a new way of thinking about events throughout the world.
Confirmed participants include Jason Popp, president of marketing solutions for events specialist Moss, who’s also on the Virtual Events Institute board, Rachel Wimberly, Tarsus Group’s U.S. executive vice president and Scott Wilcox, chief innovation officer and partner at SXSW, the Austin Texas festival that went fully virtual this year.
“Tech companies are used to working in isolation,” said Event Tech Live Co-Founder Adam Parry. “That creativity really kept the commercial world turning, helping companies in every sector in every location to pivot, to reach their markets digitally.”
The awards have historically been a springboard for companies to become in-demand vendors at events. Konduko, which won three awards at the fully virtual ETA20, will provide hybrid contactless technology at ETL’s show in London in November. It was also featured at the Jewelers International Showcase in Miami in March.
