IAEE and TPOP Team Up to Offer Workplace and Safety Training Course
The International Association of Exhibitions and Events has joined forces with The Power Of Preparedness (TPOP) to offer customized safety and security training to the exhibitions and events industry through IAEE’s CEM Learning Program.
“This collaboration stems from our work with the Exhibitions and Meetings Safety and Security Initiative (EMSSI),” said David DuBois, IAEE president and CEO. “The additional training geared specifically to our industry is an important added element to addressing the need for guidelines and best practices regarding safety and security at our events and in our venues.”
“Think and Survive: Workplace Violence and Active Shooter Preparedness” is a 60-minute comprehensive online course that teaches the latest proven techniques to enhance personal and corporate preparedness and response to mitigate and survive a life-threatening situation.
Available to IAEE members at a discount, the comprehensive course includes chapters on workplace violence recognition, behavioral indicators, situational awareness, recognizing gunfire, surviving an active shooter event and response to injury.
“Preparedness is key in any crisis situation,” said William F. Flynn, chief strategy officer of TPOP, a Michigan-based SaaS company that delivers Workplace Safety compliance and Active Shooter preparedness training to corporate, healthcare and educational facilities of all sizes.
He continued, “Our curriculum combines real-life case studies and instructor experiences with adult learning science to teach preparedness and response strategies and tactics to people who may be thrust into a life-threatening situation.”
TPOP’s faculty, comprised of nationally recognized safety and security experts, behavioral scientists and eLearning designers, have created digital courseware designed to provide learners with the foundational preparedness and response protocols needed to survive any type of workplace violence, including an active shooter situation.
“TPOP is pleased to work with IAEE in customizing our program for an industry that will benefit greatly from this knowledge,” said Daniel Stechow, president and CEO of TPOP.
Students enrolled in the IAEE Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) Learning Program in the U.S. will be required to participate in the TPOP course, at no additional cost, while taking the Security, Risk & Crisis Management module.
“IAEE is focused on helping our members prepare for current industry landscapes,” added DuBois. “We felt it was imperative to incorporate an elevated level of education into our designation program, as well as offer it to all our members.”
