Based in the U.K., with shows around the world, dmg :: events has decided to expand its footprint with a new division in the United States, naming industry veteran Michael Green president to run it.

The first show in the United States to combine traditional and renewable energy sectors – VP International’s Total Energy USA – debuted Nov. 27-29 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, with an estimated 1,500 attendees.
Instead of representing one particular energy sector, Total Energy USA touched on several of them, such as fossil, nuclear, renewables and cross-cutting sectors like energy-efficiency.

People just want to have fun, and that was apparent with the recent success of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions trade show – IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012 – held Nov. 12-16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
The show drew 26,500 attendees, which included an increased number of buyers, 15,800, an expansive trade show floor – the largest in four years - and largest outdoor space in 10 years, as well as a 14-percent increase in education attendance.

Korea’s food and beverage trade show, Food Week Korea, rounded off its seventh year running with record success when it ran a few weeks ago.
The Coex-organized exhibition welcomed 712 exhibiting companies, 1,800 booths and more than 92,000 visitors, including 600 from overseas, during the five days it ran Nov. 6-10.

U.K.-based UBM acquired a 65-percent equity share in Eco Exhibitions Sdn Bhd – owner of sustainable building, design and construction trade show Greenbuild Asia.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Greenbuild Asia’s founder and owner, Andrew Siow, will remain as a partner and managing director of the company.

The international organic sector met for the 12th year in a row for BioFach Japan 2012 Nov. 21-23 in the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Centre.
This year was notable for the large international share of exhibitors. More than 210 companies from 14 nations, compared with 10 nations in 2011 presented their organic products.
Italy, particularly the region of Sicily, and Argentina were at BioFach Japan for the first time. Other countries that participated were Germany, Australia, France, South Korea, Nepal, Austria and the United Arab Emirates.

Calls from within the Taiwanese jewellery industry to hold an international, professional jewellery exhibition in Taiwan have been answered, with UBM Asia and the Taiwan Jewelry Industry Association joining forces, supported by the Taipei Jewelers’ Association, to launch the first Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair.
The show will be held Nov. 15-18 at the Taipei World Trade Center.

The Canadian Cardiovascular Congress, the largest gathering of cardiovascular health and care professionals in the country, was held Oct. 27-31, attracting close to 4,000 delegates to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The event is co-hosted by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and brings together a total of 20 different organizations.
Delegates include physicians, surgeons, researchers, nurses, medical students, and allied health professionals.

The recent staging of Messe Duesseldorf’s MEDICA 2012, International Trade Fair with Congress – World Forum for Medicine, and the collocated COMPAMED 2012, International Trade Fair – High tech solutions for medical technology, attracted 130,600 visitors from 120 countries to Duesseldorf, Germany.
There also were 4,554 exhibitors from 64 nations at MEDICA 2012 that included visitor groups from countries such as South America, North Africa and Asia.

In October 2023, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve allocating Tourist Development Tax funding for the $560 million Phase 5A completion of the OCCC.
