Reed Exhibitions Looks to Strengthen Ties in China by Signing MOU with CPIT Shanghai

August 5, 2013

U.K.-based Reed Exhibitions and China-based CPIT Shanghai recently signed a memorandum of understanding that will enable them to work more closely together on projects.  The MOU was endorsed after successful talks between Wang Lie, vice chairman of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai (CPIT Shanghai), and Nat Wong, president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

As part of the agreement, Reed and CPIT Shanghai will establish mechanisms through which critical experience and information are disseminated, long-term projects are investigated and opinions on key industry matters are shared.

Both Reed and CPIT Shanghai have extensive talent, knowledge and technical resources at their disposal.

"We’re currently witnessing unprecedented dynamism in the local exhibition market, coupled with rising expectations from our participants,” said Nat Wong, president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

He added, "To ensure that Reed can embrace the challenges of operating in an intensely competitive industry, we need to forge strategic relationships with partners who share the same values, ambition and dedication to quality as we do.”

Some of the shows that Reed Exhibitions Greater China currently holds in the region are the China (Shenzhen) International Toys & Gifts Fair, NEPCON China, China Drug Store Show and 100% Design Shanghai, to name a few.

In all, Reed Exhibitions Greater China has 54 events in 11 different industry sectors.

"CPIT Shanghai's strength is in promoting trade, investment and cooperation, as well as in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Shanghai and other parts of the world,” said Wang Lei, vice chairman of CPIT Shanghai.

He added, “Our vision fits squarely with Reed’s as we both strive to become industry leaders, by delivering excellent events that are current and comprehensive. I'm delighted that we're taking this important step, and I look forward to working together to develop new ways for CPIT to extend its international reach with and through Reed."
