Smart City Networks Signs New Two-year Contract with Hawaii Convention Center
Convention industry telecommunications provider Smart City Networks has signed a two-year contract with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which manages the Hawai’i Convention Center.
The contract stipulates that Smart City now is the Honolulu-based facility’s exclusive internet and data services provider through Dec. 2018.
The tech company had been operating under an interim agreement since Nov. 2016, after which Smart City completed an entire overhaul of the HCC’s data and wireless capabilities in a record-setting 27 days.
“The network install and wireless upgrade were made a priority in December to ensure that the shows and events taking place during that time were serviced accordingly,” explained Mark Haley, president of Smart City Networks.
In addition to the network and upgraded wireless equipment, Smart City also placed a dedicated general manager and technician onsite at the facility to oversee the project.
Besides positioning enhanced Wi-Fi throughout the facility, Smart City also implemented a complimentary Wi-Fi service in the HCC’s lobbies and public spaces for casual use.
“Smart City’s upgrades and the addition of the complimentary Wi-Fi supports AEG’s efforts to continuously improve upon the services offered at the Hawai’i Convention Center,” said Teri Orton, AEG general manager at the HCC.
She continued, “Smart City not only provides great technological services, but they also understand the importance of exceptional service delivery, and that is part of the spirit of Aloha.”
