150+ Take Part in Inaugural Expo! Expo! Terence Donnelly Memorial 5K Run/1-Mile Walk
At the first light of dawn on the third day of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ Expo! Expo! last week in Las Vegas, 158 people took part in the inaugural Terence Donnelly (T-Dawg) Memorial 5K Run/1 Mile Walk.
Donnelly, who passed away earlier this year, was a long-time member of IAEE and worked for Experient for many years.
More than $5,000 from the run/walk was raised to support the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Foundation.
“The support shown by Expo! Expo! attendees speaks not only to the remarkable person Terence was and to his legacy, both professionally and personally, but also to the camaraderie that is so prevalent among the members of our industry,” said Cathy Breden, IAEE’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.
She added, “CEIR is proud to have been a part of his remembrance and is grateful to all who took part in it. Terence’s contributions to the industry will live on through the valuable research CEIR conducts thanks to the funds raised at the Expo! Expo! Terence Donnelly Memorial 5K Run/1 Mile Walk.”
Experient sponsored the race, including offering race t-shirts for all of the runners and walkers.
“We were delighted to sponsor the First Annual Terrence “TDawg” Donnelly 5K/1M Race/Walk. Terence was part of the Experient Family for 15 years and was a beloved member of our industry community,” said Jeff Fugate, Experient’s senior vice president, sales and marketing.
He added, “We had great participation of over 150 and intend to support this event in his honor indefinitely.”
Experient also designed the logo and branding and worked with race organizer Play With a Purpose to bring the brand to life the morning of the race.
“While Terence was not an everyday runner, what people may not realize is his passion for running because of his son, Colin,” Jamie Murdock, Experient’s vice president of sales.
He added, “Colin will be attending Dartmouth next fall and running cross country for them. It was awesome to see the turnout at ExpoExpo to celebrate Terence and what this community meant to him! Thank you to all who participated and we hope to continue this in Louisville next year.”
