New Board/Executive Placements at PCMA, HSMAI:IAEE Exhibitions Director Moves On
Three different associations – the Professional Convention Management Association, the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events – recently board and staffing changes.
PCMA Board of Directors has elected Martin D. Balogh, director of meetings and travel for the American Bar Association, to fill the one-year Board seat vacancy for 2012. The seat was vacated by Chris Wehking, who began his term as secretary-treasurer of the PCMA board of directors Jan. 12.
A 30-year employee of the ABA, Balogh has held numerous positions in the meetings and travel department.
Balogh and his staff manage the association’s annual meeting of 16,000 attendees and a mid-year meeting with more than 4,000 attendees and negotiate contracts for more than 300 additional meetings a year.
Balogh has been a member of PCMA since 2001 and has been actively involved in the organization for several years.
He was a member of the 2005 and 2006 Annual Meeting Program Committees and served on the PCMA Education Foundation Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2011. Balogh earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois.
HSMAI has named its 2012 Americas Region Executive Committee and Board of Directors, including Barb Bowden, general manager of The Peabody Orlando, who will serve as HSMAI’s new chair.
