INTERPHEX 2014 Featured New Roundtables, Speaker Presentations and Education Sessions

March 23, 2014

The 2014 edition of the International Pharmaceutical Expo (INTERPHEX), a show dedicated to the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry, had several new features at this year’s event.

The show, sponsored by the PDA (Parenteral Drug Association), was held March 18-20 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City.

This year, more than 12,000 attendees had access to 650-plus exhibitors, getting a firsthand look at the latest technology, equipment and services.

"It's important for us to attend because this is the number one event of the year,” said Branden Morris, Director of Marketing at Masy Systems.

He added, “It gives us a great chance to meet and greet with existing customers as well as meet new ones.”

New to the show were a variety of new roundtable discussions and speaker presentations on the INTERPHEX Connects Innovation Stages.

Topics covered continuous manufacturing for solid dose drugs, high potency manufacturing, cleaning validation, and more.

PDA also produced the first-ever Education Program @INTERPHEX, featuring fresh ideas and sessions on the current industry trends and technologies.

Presentations throughout the three days encompassed everything from parenteral packaging to biopharmaceutical and sterile manufacturing.

Other events during the show included specialty forums, a case study series, workshops, and a student and young professionals program.

This year, INTERPHEX also was a contributor to the Health Science Industry Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to qualified graduate and undergraduate students pursuing health science related degrees at accredited colleges and universities in the U.S.

"While we are all focused on our own day jobs, we need to find the time to develop the talent in the industry," said Robert Lechich, director of Technical Operations for Pfizer Global Supply and part of the Scholarship Fund.

He added, "Our goal is to identify individuals that are worthy and train them to move into the industry – this is our opportunity to build the future."

The excitement from this year already has lead into next year, with exhibitors renewing more space for 2015 than at the end of last year's event. INTERPHEX 2015 will be held April 21-23 in New York City.
