TCEB Quickly Reacts to Bangkok Terrorist Bombing
Following Monday’s shocking terrorist bombing in Bangkok, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) set up a special team to assist MICE organisers, visitors and exhibitors.
The initiative includes a temporary TCEB Information Centre at the Bangkok airport.
TCEB reports that no major events have been cancelled and it expects more than 76,000 MICE delegates at events to be held in August, September and October.
Major MICE events scheduled include the FDI World Dental Congress with 9,300 delegates and the World Congress of Surgery with more than 2,000 delegates.
Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, TCEB’s president, said, “In response to the explosion incident in Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong Intersection, TCEB has set up a special war room to facilitate all MICE organisers, reiterating our support and building confidence. Meanwhile, a TCEB Information Centre has been opened at Suvannabhumi Airport to coordinate and assist all MICE travellers scheduled to travel to Thailand between now and October. There is no cancellation or postponement of events scheduled to be held in Thailand during this time.”
The explosion occurred on Monday at a popular shrine in Bangkok’s central business district killing at least 20 people – including tourists from Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Malaysia, as well as Thai nationals.
