Diversified Communications Names Mary Larkin President of U.S. Division

February 6, 2019

Diversified Communications’ President and CEO Theodore Wirth promoted Mary Larkin to President of Diversified Communications’ U.S. operating division.

“In 2014, we took the unusual step and established a three-person EVP team. Bill Springer, Mike Lodato and Mary Larkin were able to grow the business, but three-person leadership teams are challenging at best and we felt it was the right time to appoint one leader,” Wirth said.

He added, “We greatly appreciate what Bill, Mike and Mary accomplished together and throughout their careers here and look forward to the future of Diversified Communications under Mary’s leadership.”

The U.S. division, located in Portland, Me., employs more than 200 people who produce 24 conferences and exhibitions annually, 10-plus online publications and B2B platforms, and two monthly trade magazines.

“It is an honor to take on this new leadership position,” Larkin said.

She added, “I look forward to working with our talented and dedicated staff to take Diversified’s US division to new heights.”

Larkin has been with Diversified Communications for more than 23 years. She has risen through the ranks from her entry position in sales to Show Director (2001), Group Vice President (2004), Executive Vice President (2014) and now President of Diversified Communications.

Throughout this time, she has been integral in growing the company’s largest events: Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Expo North America.

Larkin began her tradeshow and conference career in Europe before moving to the U.S. in 1995 to join Diversified.

She serves on many industry Boards including the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO), Executive Board of UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) and Seafood Industry Research Fund (SIRF). She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Grieving Children in Portland, Me.
