New York Times Best-selling Author Liza Mundy Will Speak at ASAE's In Honor of Women Event

Liza Mundy, award-winning reporter and New York Times best-selling author of three books including, “The Richer Sex and the Rise of Women’s Economic Power", will be the luncheon speaker at the 2012 In Honor of Women (IHOW) event, which celebrates women who have made an impact in the association industry through their leadership and contributions.

The full-day educational program and awards luncheon is Oct. 31 at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, DC. 

Boston Snags Both the National Association of Black Journalists, National Society of Black Engineers for Future Years

The National Association of Black Journalists and the National Society of Black Engineers both signed contracts with the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority to bring their events to Boston in 2014 and 2016.

“Over the last several years, the MCCA and city leaders have made a concerted effort to recruit minority events to come to Boston, allowing people from across the country and around the world to see our city in a new light,” said James Rooney, executive director of the MCCA.

IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012 Offers Robust Education Program

IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012, which takes place Nov. 12-16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., will offer more than 85 educational seminars, luncheons, roundtable discussions, behind-the-scenes tours, daylong institutes and half-day symposiums designed to keep attractions industry professionals up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in attractions management.

Austin Pitches in to Bring 20 Young Professionals Under 30 to IAEE's Expo! Expo!

Twenty young professionals under the age of 30 will have the opportunity to take part in the International Association of Exhibitions & Events’ Expo! Expo! through a sponsorship by the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau and Austin Convention Center.

The professionals, who may not have had the financial resources to attend otherwise, will be invited to attend the event Dec. 4-6 in Orlando.

October PACK EXPO International Show Sold Out in Chicago

Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, owner and producer of the PACK EXPO trade shows, has sold out its PACK EXPO International on tap Oct. 28-31 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

“The sold out status of PACK EXPO speaks volumes to its value as a showcase for the packaging and processing industries,” said Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO, PMMI.

He added, “With space completely gone three months out, the show has surpassed even our expectations.”

ASAE Joins with American Forests to Plant One Tree Per Annual Meeting Attendee

The world is about to get a little bit greener with a major commitment by the American Society of Association Executives through a partnership with American Forests to plant one tree per attendee to ASAE’s Annual Meeting & Exposition.

The meeting, on tap Aug. 11-14 at the Dallas Convention Center, typically attracts approximately 5,000 attendees.

This effort, part of American Forests’ new Meeting ReLeaf program, will offset the carbon footprint of the meeting and augment ASAE’s broader sustainability efforts, according to ASAE officials.

IMTS Show Will Host First-ever Job Center

AMT – The Association for Manufacturing Technology’s IMTS – International Manufacturing Technology Show is just around the corner, and the organization announced it has teamed with Trillium CNC/CNC Jobs for its first-ever IMTS 2012 Job Center.

The show, held Sept. 10-15 at Chicago’s McCormick Place, will have the job center in the West Building, where it will provide a forum for the IMTS community to learn more about and make connections to careers in manufacturing.

EXPO PACK M�xico Breaks Records; New Show Launched in Guadalajara

Not only did the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s EXPO PACK México2012, held June 26-29 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City, break new records with its showfloor, but the association also decided to expand its presence in the country with a new show launch in Guadalajara.

The EXPO PACK México  show spanned 18,475 net square meters (198,800 net square feet) of exhibit space, a 13-percent increase compared with previous editions, and welcomed 5,139 attendees and 1,015 exhibiting companies.
