The 2013 International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions’ Leadership Conference and Latin America Networking Event will take place March 6-8 in São Paulo, Brazil. The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), which is on tap Jan. 29-31 at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center, has set a record, with more than 1,150 exhibitors, covering 430,000-plus net square feet of exhibit space. This year’s International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ Expo! Expo! drew more than an estimated 2,000 attendees Dec. 4-6 to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, where they had the opportunity to not only go to 80 educational sessions, but also network with colleagues at events such as the opening party at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and check out products and services on a busy showfloor. For the ninth quarter in a row, the trade show industry still is growing, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s latest CEIR Index, albeit at a slower rate in the third quarter of this year, with concerns over not only the looming fiscal cliff, but also the global economy. The Total Index grew 0.9 percent in the third quarter, after the first quarter grew 3 percent and the second quarter grew 1.7 percent, and companies have become more conservative, waiting to see how everything plays out.
