The Appointment Group acquires Axis Events

The Appointment Group Asia Pacific has announced the acquisition of a Sydney-based event company, Axis Events, to expand its business in the region. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded by Paul Christie, Axis Events has 28 staff members and operates offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore. Under the acquisition, Axis Events team and The Appointment Group team will remain an integral part of the expanded division.

ITE Completes Acquisition of 70% Stake in Shanghai Gehua

Last week, ITE Group plc’s subsidiary, ITE Asia Exhibitions Limited, announced that the company had received approval from the Chinese Government to complete the acquisition of a 70% stake in Shanghai Gehua.

The initial consideration payable for the transaction is £9.2 million (US$11.5 million) – with £5.7 million (US$7.1 million) in cash and about 2.3 million ordinary shares. The deferred consideration will be capped at £2.6 million (US$3.3 million) and is payable in 2017 based on the audited financial performance in the year ending 31st December 2016.

Shanghai Hospitality Design & Engineering Expo 2017 Expanding

Based on its successful 2016 edition, Shanghai Hospitality Design & Engineering Expo (HDE) 2017, hosted by UBM Sinoexpo, will expand to over 45,000 sqm of exhibiting space and 90,000 visitors together with the concurrent Hotel Plus Mockup Room Show (Hotel Plus).

With four months to go, the preparation work for HDE 2017 is in full swing and the organizers will continue to work closely with all partners concerned to make the April show perfect.

Las Vegas Welcomes Hainan Airlines and the First Nonstop Flight From China

History was made today when Hainan Airlines’ first flight from Beijing to Las Vegas touched down at McCarrran International Airport filled with excited Chinese travelers, media and company officials. A traditional water arches salute greeted the aircraft as it taxied to the gate.

"We have just made history," said Hou Wei, senior vice president of Hainan Airlines, "flying the first commercial aircraft from Mainland China to Nevada, finally linking the capital of the People's Republic of China with the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas!"

The 22nd edition of the China (Shanghai) International Boat Show (CIBS 2017) will make its debut at its new location, the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, April 26-29, which promises to be its biggest exhibition yet.

Attendee registration was an incredibly manual and time-consuming process back in 1986 when Doug Fletcher saw the need to modernize it. So, he created Convention Data Services to benefit show management, exhibitors and attendees.
