International Association of Exhibitions & Events Names Individual Award Winners

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events has unveiled this year's recipients of the IAEE Awards program that recognizes professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the exhibitions and events industry.

Award winners will be honored at the IAEE Annual Networking Luncheon and Awards Presentation on tap at the Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition, Dec.10-12 in Houston.

Radiological Society of North America's Annual Meeting Taps Condoleezza Rice to Keynote

More than 50,000 attendees expected at the 99th Annual Radiological Society of North America’s Annual Meeting 2013 will have the opportunity to hear a keynote by former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

At the meeting, on tap Dec. 1-6 at McCormick Place in Chicago, among other topics, Rice will tackle some challenging healthcare questions, such as, how do we educate the students of tomorrow? And, how do we foster leadership among present and future practitioners?

John Gallagher Leaves Messe Frankfurt USA's Top Post, Kathyrn Fitts and Dennis Smith Step In

A few months shy of the two-year anniversary of John Gallagher stepping into the dual roles of president and CEO for Germany-based Messe Frankfurt's Atlanta-based U.S. subsidiary, he is leaving and will be replaced by Kathryn Fitts and Dennis Smith.

Fitts has been serving as vice president of finance and administration, and Smith has been serving as vice president of sales in the Atlanta office.

The changes will be made effective immediately, though their new titles have not been revealed yet.  

4th Annual TSNN Awards Will Draw More than 60 Show Organizers and VIPs Nov. 1-3 to Reno

When Trade Show News Network’s 4th Annual TSNN Awards: Celebrating Trade Show Excellence kicks off Nov. 1-3 in Reno, Nov., there will be not only more than 60 show organizers and their guests from the largest and fastest-growing trade shows in attendance and net square footage on hand, but there also will be the heads and chairs of several major industry associations, among other VIP guests.

Like many in our industry, I spend more time on the road than in the office, and I know the importance of working seamlessly regardless of my physical location. GES' Parent Company, Viad, Q3 Revenues Drop 23 Percent, Same-show Revenue Up 5.2 Percent

Global Experience Specialists’ parent company, Viad, saw a 23-percent drop in third-quarter revenues from $307.5 million in the same quarter in 2012 to $236.5 million this year, primarily because of negative show rotation.

U.S. segment revenue for the Marketing & Events Group was $120.5 million, with an operating loss of $3.7 million, compared with 2012 Q3 revenue of $168.4 million and an operating loss of $585,000.

Even with negative show rotation of approximately $57 million impacting Q3 earnings, same-show growth was positive in the third quarter.
