IAEE and IAVM Form Strategic Alliance
The International Association of Exhibitions and Events and the International Association of Venue Managers have formed a strategic alliance that will include cross-marketing each other’s educational programs and networking events and other products developed for their memberships.
IAEE has approximately 1,300 member organizations and more than 8,000 individual member representatives, of which more than 50 percent are directly involved in the planning, management and production of exhibitions and buyer-seller events.
IAEE Set to Debut Women's Leadership Forum May 30 in D.C.
For the very first time May 30 in Washington, D.C., the International Association of Exhibitions and Events will host the Women’s Leadership Forum at the Fairmont Hotel in Georgetown.
Cathy Breden, IAEE’s COO, said the decision to launch the event had been in the works for the past few years and was moved forward when IAEE Past-chair Doreen Biela appointed a task force to explore the feasibility of a program geared toward female professionals in the industry.

Diversified Business Communications Makes Two Acquisitions
Portland-Maine-based Diversified Business Communications made two acquisitions - the Institute of Finance and Management (IOFM) from Greenhaven Partners, a U.S. private equity firm, and U.K.-based Intelligent Exhibitions Limited from Owner and Operator Versha Carter, a producer of international exhibitions and conferences.
Both buys will expand not only Diversified’s print, eMedia and marketing services product lines, but also events portfolio.

Huge news today out of New York City about American Business Media (ABM) merging with the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). I mean HUGE news.
ABM is the venerable 107 year-old b-to-b media association, which states, in their own words, that their “… 200-plus member companies reach an audience of more than 100 million professionals and represent nearly 4,000 print and online titles and over 1,000 trade shows, with more than $20 billion in annual revenues.” By comparison SIIA has 750 member companies.
