1. Not doing your research. Before you sign up for a trade show, make sure it’s the right one for you. Know ahead of time whether the people that will be attending are your target audience and whether you think the investment will pay off. Make sure you know about the registration dates, size of booth and which competitors will be there.  The more you know and the more prepared you are, the less stress you’ll have to deal with

Just look at Puma’s promotion of its Italy jersey for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It set up “confessionals” across the US and encouraged people to kneel before the “altar,” snap pictures and share them on social channels with the hashtag #StartBelieving.

Urban Expositions Acquires Womenswear in Nevada (WWIN) Apparel Show

Urban Expositions has acquired Womenswear in Nevada (WWIN) trade show from Specialty Trade Shows, Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The ownership transition began immediately following the Aug. 17-20 edition of the semi-annual womenswear apparel trade show held at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.

"We've known Roland Timney and the Specialty Trade Show team for many years and have long admired their customer service focus and management style," said Doug Miller, president and CEO, Urban Expositions.

Meet Taiwan Secures MICE Deal Through Japan Roadshow

Meet Taiwan, the MICE promotion programme led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, recently conducted a roadshow in Japan, visiting the cities of Osaka and Fukuoka. Targeting corporate meeting planners and key product suppliers in Japan, Meet Taiwan organised business-matching meetings, presentations and networking activities – linking six Taiwanese MICE organisations with Japanese partners.

SingEx CEO Appointed Vice President of Venue Association

Aloysius Arlando, Chief Executive Office of SingEx, the management company of the Singapore Expo Convention and Exhibition Centre, was elected as vice president of International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) at last month’s APIC Annual Conference. The appointment reflects the increasing influence of Asian venues and growing importance of Asian market.

HKTDC Opens a Branch Office in Singapore

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) hosted an opening ceremony for its new Singapore branch office on 17th August, with over 400 business guests from Hong Kong and Singapore in attendance. The Singapore branch office will offer support to the HKTDC in helping Hong Kong small- and medium-sized enterprises assessing and entering ASEAN markets. Including the new office in Singapore, the HKTDC now has 46 offices around the world – of which 24 are in Asia.
