For the 18th quarter in a row, the trade show industry saw an overall uptick in growth in the fourth quarter of last year of 1.7 percent, compared with the same quarter in 2013, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Index Report.
Although the trend still was positive, the growth was lower than the 2.3 percent that had occurred in the third quarter of 2014.
Tarsus Group Posts 10 Percent Like-for-like Revenue Growth for 2014
Even though Tarsus Group’s biggest shows were not held last year, the company still saw not only an 18 percent increase in revenues, compared with 2012 when similar shows ran, but also like-for-like revenue growth of 10 percent.
Total 2014 revenues were £60.6 million ($92.5 million), compared with same off-year 2012 revenues of £51.5 ($78.6 million) million. Revenues for 2013 were £75.9 million ($115.9 million), when the company’s two largest shows were held.
Overall attendance at Tarsus’ 2014 shows also saw positive signs, with and an average high single-digit increase.

3rd Annual IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum on Tap in April
For the third year, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events will host its Women’s Leadership Forum April 8 in Washington, D.C.
“The Women’s Leadership Forum is a key initiative for IAEE,” said Cathy Breden, CAE, CMP, executive vice president and COO.
She added, “We host this annual program for the main purpose of providing a place where women in the exhibition industry can come together to discuss topics and create a support group both professionally and personally.”

Emerald Expositions bought several brands in the healthcare and senior living design market, including the Healthcare Design Conference and Expo and other events, education, print and online assets from the Vendome Group, as well as the International Pizza Expo and Pizza Today magazine from Macfadden Communications Group.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, formerly the International Boston Seafood Show/Seafood Processing America, still is a few weeks away, but it has a record-setting showfloor on tap, with more than 200,000 net square feet at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
Scheduled March 15-17, the show, which is owned by Diversified Communications, has seen a lot of growth from overseas companies that have decided to exhibit.
