The International Association of Exhibitions and Events unveiled this year’s recipients of its awards program, which recognizes IAEE members and member companies who have made outstanding contributions to the exhibitions and events industry.
Along with the Woman of Achievement and International Excellence award winners, which were announced earlier this year, these award recipients will be honored during Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition on tap Dec. 11-13 in New Orleans.

For the fourth year in a row, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) will be featuring its Tech Startup Pavilion and Competition at Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition, set for Dec. 11-13 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Messe München’s FENESTRATION BAU China concluded last week attracting more than 100,000 visitors to New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) in Beijing. That figure represents year-on-year growth of 6%.
Running from 31st October to 3rd November, the show covered net exhibition space of just over 51,000 m2, an increase of 5% compared with last year. Positioned as the leading trade fair for building systems solutions, high-end technologies and window materials in the Asia Pacific region, a total of 656 companies from 20 countries participated in the show.

The Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB) recently confirmed that the city has secured 40 international conferences for the year to date. SCB anticipates that these events will bring a total of 35,000 delegates to Seoul.
According to the SCB, 12 of the confirmed events will be large-scale conferences with more than 1,000 delegates each. International conferences selecting Seoul as the host have continued to increase in recent years. In 2017, 42 new conferences were secured by SCB attracting 30,325 delegates. In 2016, the figure was 31 conferences with 23,990 delegates secured.

This week, Deutsche Messe announced a deal to purchase a majority stake in LaserFair based in Shenzhen. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Launched in 2007, LaserFair’s management maintains it is the largest laser exhibition in southern China. The event focuses on key segment including laser processing, laser applications, and intelligent manufacturing. After the acquisition, the show will be directly managed by Deutsche Messe’s Chinese subsidiary, Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai together with the other shareholder, Shenzhen XZQ Information Science and Technology Company.… more

Tourism continues to dominate Asia Pacific’s travel industry, but the Corporate Incentive Travel segment (CIT), already representing one-quarter of the global travel industry, continues to make steady gains.
The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) partnered with PCMA Education Foundation to commission a research project to help APAC region meeting planners understand what is driving this expanding CIT market, which favors travel over financial incentives to motivate and reward high-performing staff, particularly Gen Y and Millennials.

The “who’s who” of the industry will be there when bauma CHINA opens its doors again from Nov. 27-30 in Shanghai.
More than 3,300 companies will present themselves at Asia’s largest trade fair – 300 more than in 2016.
Accordingly, 200,000 visitors are expected, which would be a new record. The Chinese construction machinery industry is booming as bauma CHINA approaches.

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 20th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the third Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo and the 13th Eco Expo Asia concluded with a record number of over 73,000 buyers from 154 countries and regions visiting the three events - an increase of 6% on last year's attendance.HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau said that the increase in buyer attendance showed the three concurrent fairs had been successful in creating synergy to help build an effective cross-industry sourcing platform.… more

In October 2023, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve allocating Tourist Development Tax funding for the $560 million Phase 5A completion of the OCCC. The Convention Way Grand Concourse project will include enhancements to the North-South Building, featuring an additional 60,000 square feet of meeting space, an 80,000- square-foot ballroom and new entry to the North-South Building along Convention Way.
“We are thrilled to begin work on completing our North-South Building which will allow us to meet the growing needs of our clients,” said OCCC Executive Director Mark Tester. “As an economic driver for the community, this project will provide the Center with connectivity and meeting space to host more events and continue to infuse the local economy with new money and expanding business opportunities.”
