PMMI — The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies – wrapped up its biannual PACK EXPO International last week, along with the newly collocated Pharma EXPO 2014,  and attracted a 6.5 percent increase in attendance, compared with 2012, topping 48,600 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has hired June Ko onto the association's staff as Vice President, Asia Pacific Operations. U.K.-based Tarsus Group posted its Interim Management Statement from July 1, 2014 to Nov. 10, 2014 that indicated that results were in line with the company’s expectations, with key events performing well. "We have had a very good third quarter with strong performances across the major brands: Zuchex, Sign, Labelexpo and Offprice,” said Tarsus Group Managing Director Douglas Emslie. After the highly successful concept of the wine and spirits trade fairs ProWein in Düsseldorf, Germany, and ProWine China in Shanghai, Messe Düsseldorf will organize a new satellite event for Southeast Asia: ProWine Asia. The first staging will take place April 12-16, 2016, at the Singapore Expo. With ProWine Asia, Messe Düsseldorf will continue to cooperate with the international Allworld Group, which started with ProWine China several years ago. This week, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened the 7th edition of the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The fair, running from 6th to 8th November, opened with more than 1,000 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions. This year’s wine & spirits fair is themed “Leisure in Chateau”, and will be attended by more than 70 buying missions consisting of 2,000 international companies organised by the HKTDC. Co-located industrial events, PTC Asia, ComVac Asia and CeMAT Asia were recently held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from 27th 30th October 2014. In total, Hannover Milano Fairs’ four-day trade shows covered some 134,000 m2 of gross exhibition space. Themed “Smart Manufacturing, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection”, this year’s Power Transmission and Control (PTC Asia) featured 1,208 exhibitors spread over 80,500 m2 of gross exhibition space. The new Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Centre (ZICEC) recently opened to add 30,000 m2 of exhibition space to the Pearl River Delta region in southern China. With an initial investment of US$1.1 billion, the venue was developed by Zhuhai’s leading state-owned enterprise, Huafa Group, and managed by Beijing’s China National Convention Center (CNCC). ZICEC’s exhibition space is spread across six 5,000 m2 column-free halls. Event organiser Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), a member company of Allworld Exhibitions Alliance, has announced the appointment of Lindy Wee as the company’s new chief executive effective 1st January 2015. Ms Wee currently serves as deputy chief executive of SES and will succeed the outgoing chief executive, Stephen Tan, who has served as chief executive since 1989. Tan will assume the role of chairman of SES at the end of his tenure. Ms Wee has more than 30 years of MICE-related experience since joining SES in 1983.
