George Little Management has continued to expand its show portfolio with the recent addition of two shows – SourcesNY and SourcesLA – that will connect international and domestic manufacturers, artisans and producers of materials, home décor, accessories, gifts, private label apparel and handcrafts, with U.S.-based importers, wholesalers, volume buyers, product designers and large U.S. retail chains. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) will organise a regional forum this year titled “AEC 2012: The Cutting Edge Strategy for MICE Industry” to strengthen Thailand and the region’s MICE sector ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. A draft master plan is expected as a result of the forum, with attendees including delegates from the ASEAN Commercial Counsellor. Global Sources’ China Sourcing Fairs and collocated India Sourcing Fairs debuted Aug. 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with sold-out shows. The sold-out events were the largest Greater China products exhibitions in Brazil, featuring more than 500 booths. The success of the combined shows is an indication of the growing importance of trade partnerships between Greater China suppliers and the burgeoning South American market, according to Global Sources’ officials. The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) recently supported the Queensland region by holding its board meeting and a series of roundtable and networking events at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, which will host the G20 Conference in 2014. U.K.-based Reed Exhibitions has reiterated the international expansion opportunities in Indonesia and Brazil following the release of parent group Reed Elsevier’s first half financial results. Recently concluded consumer products event, the Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (GMBPF), attracted more than 136,000 attendees from the 2nd to 5th August this year. The fair is jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province. Cashmere World will move from Beijing to Hong Kong in September this year. The organisers, UBM and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-products (CFNA), announced the first Hong Kong edition of Cashmere World will be held together with Fashion Access, another UBM event, Sept. 27-29 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). According to media reports, plans to build two convention centres in India have been revealed. The first, announced by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTCD), is planned for Nashik in the state of Maharashtra – located 180km from Mumbai and 202km from Pune. The venue site is proposed 10km from Nashik’s city centre, and will include residential and conference facilities for up to 1,000 delegates with potential supporting amenities to include an amusement park and water sports attraction.
