The 8th edition of machine tools and metalworking exhibition, MTA Vietnam, has concluded with attendance of 8,243 visitors – up 19% from its previous edition in 2010. The show’s organiser is Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), a member of Allworld Exhibitions. The four-day trade show was held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) from 5th to 8th July this year. Even though it’s still more than a month away, Reed Exhibitions’ CIBTM, The China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition is on track to be the biggest ever, with more than 300 exhibitors, a 21-percent increase, compared with last year’s event, as well as approximately 300 hosted buyers, a 25-percent increase, compared with 2010. Business Events Sydney (BESydney), tasked with promoting MICE opportunities in Sydney and New South Wales (NSW), has reported that the organisation supported 67 successful bids for business events during the 2010-2011 financial year – generating revenues of US$198 million for the NSW economy. As a result, the 67 events will deliver an estimated 55,000 delegates to NSW – an increase of 28% over the 2009-2010 figure. Clean Energy Expo China 2011 recently wrapped up in Beijing and attracted nearly 17,000 attendees to the China National Convention Center. CEEC 2011 featured 320 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, including national representations from Germany (led by the German Industry & Commerce), Canada (led by the Ontario Investment and Trade Services, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade) and the Netherlands. After growing through the global recession in both 2008 and 2009, the trade fair industry in Asia expanded yet again in 2010, according to the recently released “The Trade Fair Industry in Asia” UFI/BSG report. Across the region, 15.5 million square meters were sold by organisers at 1,833 events. China leads the region by every measure including space sold. Reed Exhibitions’ and the China Solid State Lighting Alliance’s China International Exhibition and Forum on Solid State Lighting (China SSL) will relocate Nov. 8-10 to Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Convention. Hong Kong-listed Pico Far East Holdings has announced interim results for the six months ended April 30. The company’s turnover was $180 million, a decrease of 4.5 percent, compared with the same period last year. Profits during the period were $10.6 million – essentially the same at the $10.5 million recorded in the same period last year. Dilute earnings per share during the period were HK$0.0677. The development of two new MICE venues in Seoul reportedly is underway to better serve the Korean capital as the demand for more event space has exceeded the current supply. The Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Exhibition Centre has a planned opening date on April 5, 2013, and will be located in Seoul's leading fashion district. Similarly, the Seoul Station Convention Centre, or Korail Centre, also will open in 2015 with a 7,500 capacity convention centre and a 26,500 square meter exhibition hall. U.S.-based business-to-buisness media and information company PennWell Corporation has entered a joint venture partnership with trade show organizer Shenzhen Dresche Exhibition & Planning Co. to organize the annual Asia SOLAREXPO convention and exhibition.
