AEG Facilities Selected to Manage Hawaiムi Convention Center

The Hawaii Tourism Authority selected Los Angeles-based AEG Facilities to manage the Hawai‘i Convention Center, marking the second recent U.S.-based venue contract win for AEG.

AEG Facilities, which manages six overseas convention centers, also scored the new management contract for the Los Angeles Convention Center in June.

SMG holds the current venue management contract at the Hawai‘i Convention Center, which will expire at the end of 2013. 

IAEE Partners with Reed Travel Exhibitions' CIBTM, the China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events has partnered with Reed Travel Exhibitions’ CIBTM, the China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition to host qualified trade show organizers at its event Sept. 2-4 in Beijing, China.

IAEE also will co-produce educational content at the event.

“In an ongoing effort to embrace new partners in collaborative efforts, we are very excited to work with CIBTM on this strategic initiative and increase awareness about IAEE in Asia,” said IAEE President and CEO David DuBois.

People in the News: Show Management Companies, Suppliers Make Hires

The start of summer has kicked off with a steady stream of hires and promotions at both show management companies, convention and visitors bureaus and supplier companies, signaling a continued healthy environment for the trade show industry.

The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau promoted of Rachel Peavy to director of public relations. In her new role, Peavy will create and implement campaigns to support ACVB marketing, sales and tourism programs.

UFI Global Barometer: Exhibitions Grow Worldwide, Southeast Asia Leads Expansion

Good news continues for the global exhibition industry; for first time since 2008, the outlook is positive, with a majority of companies in all regions declaring increases in turnover, according to UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry’s11th Global Barometer survey on the state of the exhibition industry.

In addition, all regions indicated three companies out of four expected a turnover increase by the first half of 2014.
