Ban Lifted Allowing Up to Seven Hotels to be Built Close to Boston Convention & Exhibition Center

Another hurdle recently was cleared that would allow more meeting and trade show business to come into the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, with the Massachusetts State Legislature passing an annual budget bill that included language lifting a ban on building any hotels south of Summer Street next to the venue.

The ban was first enacted in 1997 to assuage concerns by South Boston residents of the impact too many hotels would have on the neighborhood.

SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association and the Society of Plastics Engineers have teamed up on the next three annual SPE ANTEC conferences in an effort to attract more corporate exhibitors and sponsors, as well as increase attendance.

 

ANTEC’s annual conference was collocated with SPI’s triennial NPE2012, but there wasn’t the ANTEC trade show, which traditionally is held every year alongside the conference.

FISITA 2012 Exhibition Will Debut Alongside FISITA World Automotive Congress in Beijing

The Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAE-China) and NürnbergMesse China will debut the FISITA 2012 International Exhibition for Automotive Engineering and Manufacturing alongside the longstanding FISITA World Automotive Congress in Beijing.

Both events will run Nov. 27-3,0 and the FISITA 2012 Exhibition is expected to draw 12,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors.

CEIR Releases New Version of "How the Exhibit Dollar Is Spent" Report

Have you ever wondered as an exhibitor where the money goes? The Center for Exhibition Industry Research has released an updated version of its 2007 report “How the Exhibit Dollar Is Spent.”

Among the report's findings were that 99 percent of exhibitors find unique value delivered by business-to-business exhibitions, which is not provided by other marketing channels, as well as 36 percent of the exhibitors’ dollars, the biggest piece of the pie, are spent on exhibit space.

F+W Media Buys Aspire Media

Aspire Media, parent company of Interweave, was acquired by F+W Media from private equity firms Frontenac Company and Catalyst Investors and several members of the Interweave management team.

 

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Walter Florence, a managing director of Frontenac Company, has joined the F+W Media board of directors, concurrent with the acquisition.

 

The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc. of New York represented Aspire Media in the transaction.
