Business Journals, ENK International Collocate Fall/Winter Shows in New York

Business Journals Inc. and ENK International have decided to join forces and collocate their fall/winter shows in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Britton Jones, President and CEO of BJI, and Tom Nastos, CEO of ENK, which is owned by Advanstar Communications, made the joint announcement that the shows would come together for the first time April 27-29 next year.

According to officials from both BJI and ENK, they conducted market research before deciding to make this move.

Houston’s George R. Brown First Convention Center to Offer Digital Currency ATM

Setting a trend on its own, Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center will be the only venue of its kind to offer access to digital money onsite.

A CoinVault ATM has been installed on the second level of the GRB, near the convention center’s popular Starbucks location.

Bitcoin, the most widely used and well known form of cryptocurrency, is a decentralized digital money system that is distributed worldwide. Unlike traditional currencies, such as the U.S. dollar, bitcoin is issued and distributed without any central authority.

Messe Muenchen’s bauma China Attracts 191,000 Visitors to Shanghai

The bauma China 2014, the 7th International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment exhibition, held Nov. 25-28, attracted nearly 200,000 attendees to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

Despite the downturn in the market and the severe challenges facing the industry, bauma China still attracted 191,000 visitors, up from 180,000 in 2012, coming from 149 countries and regions.

International buyers in particular were strongly represented at bauma China: their numbers rose by 12 percent.

Halloween Industry Association and Urban Expositions Team Up to Buy Halloween & Party Expo

The Halloween Industry Association and Urban Expositions have teamed up to acquire the Halloween & Party Expo from its current owners, H&P Expo.

The upcoming event, scheduled Feb. 6-9 at the New Orleans Convention Center, will be operated by H&P Expo. HIA and Urban will take over the event immediately following the 2015 edition.

Under the new partnership, Urban Expositions will be responsible for managing all aspects of the event including sales, operations, marketing and promotion with guidance and expertise provided by the Halloween Industry Association.
