The northern Malaysian state of Penang plans to set up a convention bureau in the near future to attract more MICE business to the region. It is not yet known whether the bureau will be government assisted or privately run at this stage.
There will also be a number of new MICE facilities opening in Penang in the coming years. The subterranean Penang International Convention & Exhibition Centre(sPICE) is scheduled to open in 2015. sPICE will contain a floor area of 4,459 m2 along with a business class hotel and F&B services.

More than 700 participants from around the world are expected to attend the Mid-Pacific Conference on Birth and Primal Health Research from Oct. 26-28 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center.
The meeting, which was preceded in February 2010 by the Mid-Atlantic Conference on Birth and Primal Health Research in the Canary Islands, is being held in the Pacific for the first time.
It will feature a lineup of the world’s foremost authorities on prenatal advancements and childbirth, and draw participation from nearly 40 different professions, according to show organizers.

Two of Messe Duesseldorf’s recent medical-related shows in Singapore grew in attendance.
The staging of OS+H Asia, 8th Occupational Safety & Health Exhibition for Asia in Singapore concluded with a strong increase in exhibitor and visitor participation: 163 exhibiting companies from 22 countries showcased their products to 5,918 trade visitors - with 20 percent coming from overseas, primarily from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

Nearly 72,000 attendees checked out not only more exhibits, but also a bigger showfloor at the recent World Dairy Expo at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.
The number of attendees saw an uptick of 5.6 percent, compared with last year’s show.
In addition, there was a 6.5-percent increase of exhibitors to 863 and a showfloor that grew 8.8 percent to 560,600 net square feet, compared with 2011, according to John Rozum, sales manager for World Dairy Expo.
He added the primary reason for the growth at this year’s event was the addition of more available space.

Crafters will have a new show to go to on the East Coast when Creative & Lifestyle Arts (C&LA) launches alongside George Little Management’s National Stationery Show.

The 2014 International Buyer Program (IBP) application process is now open. Interested shows have until Dec. 10 to apply. The International Buyer Program is a joint government-industry effort designed to increase U.S. export sales by promoting international attendance at major U.S. industry exhibitions.

Sporting an orange suit, “Mr. Holland” splashed imaginary orange paint on attendees, while men in kilts showcased the magical powers of haggis and bagpipes during the Euro Party at IMEX America, a trade show and convention for meetings, travel, incentives and events that took place Oct. 15-17 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Meeting Professionals International helped kick things off at last week’s IMEX America in Las Vegas with “Smart Monday”.
Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group, said that attendees “would not lack for inspiration or a sense of value” during the day-long program.

In October 2023, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve allocating Tourist Development Tax funding for the $560 million Phase 5A completion of the OCCC.
