In 2008, European show organizer EUROVET bought a 30-percent stake in CURVExpo, a show for designer lingerie, men's underwear and swimwear In North America, and more recently, it sealed the deal by buying the other 70-percent stake of the company.
CURVE xpo was launched in 2007 by co-founders Jean-Luc Teinturier and Laurence Teinturier and is held in New York and Las Vegas.
Since its inception, the show has grown so fast there now are four shows annually, two each for the West and East Coast markets.

A few years ago, fed up with high labor rates and working conditions in Chicago at the time, SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association took a big gamble and decided to move its triennial show, NPE2012, which had been in the Windy City for 40 years, to the untested waters of Orlando.
There were several unknowns in taking a chance on Orlando, according to William R. Carteaux, president and CEO of SPI, the biggest one being the city had never had hosted a heavy machinery show of this magnitude before.

FSI already produces one of the largest pet shows in the U.S., Super Pet Expo, in Edison, N.J., so it was a natural fit for the company to buy another Edison-based consumer show, the New Jersey Home Show.
“As a public show producer, we were already in the market producing the pet shows,” said Eric Udler, FSI president.
He added, “There actually is a lot of crossover attendance with the home show as well. Most pet owners own homes.”

The recent SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou, held March 7-9 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou – drew a record number of exhibitors and visitors.
There were 22,189 visitors from 60 countries and regions, an increase of 14 percent, compared with last year.
Chinese visitors numbered 21,312 and 877 were international visitors.
Exhibitors represented 438 companies from 15 countries and regions, up 24 percent, compared with last year.

After an earthquake struck Japan last year, followed by a devastating tsunami and nuclear crisis, there were several events that were canceled.
But, despite the adversity, the International Congress on Thrombosis and Haemostasis went forward with their event and, as a result, the organization recently was awarded the 2011 International Association of Professional Congress Organizers International Client Award.
The statue was given March 9 to Yasuo Ikeda, chairman of the Japanese Organization Committee of the 23rd International Congress on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

With a change in ownership structure and the recession starting to finally recede, Hanley Wood has decided old is new again and brought back Peter Goldstone as CEO of the company.
Goldstone, who previously was president of the company before he departed in 2010, will step into Frank Anton’s shoes, who will transition into a chairman role.

When the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring) opened its doors this week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre it already was off to a good start with a record-breaking 950 exhibitors.
The show, scheduled April 6-9, is in its fourth year and attracted exhibitors from not only the Chinese mainland, but also France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.
